| Qualification of members of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association |

Applicants for membership of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association must possess good virtues; have a clean criminal record; have worked in the legal field for at least 3 years (2 years for applicants in remote and mountainous areas); have good knowledge of law; volunteer to become a member; commit to be bound by the law, the Association’s Statutes and tasks assigned by the Lawyers’ Association at level where he would be a member. Persons who worked or have worked in the legal field shall be those who did or have done legal work such as studying law, teaching law, inspecting, guiding or implementing law or protecting law in the offices of the Party, the State, law research institutes, law universities or colleges, the Fatherland Front of Vietnam and mass organizations; economic operators (such as enterprises, corporations, companies or manufacturing units); professional organizations (such as bar associations, law firms, legal consulting or legal aid establishments); or inspecting or legal departments in the army forces. Persons who worked in the legal field shall be those who did legal work continuously for 3 years (or 2 years in special cases) before retiring or transferring to another work. Regarding legal qualification, applicants who are over 60 years old shall be considered for admission mostly on their legal experience. For applicants under 60 years old, they must possess a law college certificate or higher degree and have worked continuously in the legal field for at least 3 years (or 2 years in special cases). |
